Helena spearheads transformation across Acero Schools and is a fierce advocate for educational access and opportunity. For more than 22 years, she has served as an education policy advocate in senior roles for legislators and in-state agency, corporate and non-profit settings. She is an alum of the University of Texas at Austin, where she majored in Government and Sociology and minored in Mexican-American Studies. Why I Serve? Helena has called Chicago’s Ukrainian Village and Humboldt Park communities’ home for more than 15 years. She believes in the transformative impact of education and is passionate about giving voice and space to the individuals we serve in big, small, and absolutely life-changing ways.     < Back Solar PV Installation Training Facilitator Apply Now Job Type Full Time About the Role Provide training to participants utilizing select program curriculum on the operational fundamentals of Solar PV Installation, including classroom, lab, and installation site activities. Provide coaching and mentoring to ensure program participants have the competence and confidence to present themselves as a qualified and committed candidates for entry level clean energy industry positions Requirements Associates Degree in related field preferred. NABCEP PV Associate Certification. OSHA 10/30 certification. CPR/First Aid certification Minimum of 3 years of experience working solar installation or related construction work. Experience in facilitating professional adult training (trainer, teacher, instructor, or educator). Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and have an interest in serving justice involved participant population. Experience in recruiting, assessing, enrolling, career coaching and placing participants strongly preferred. Skills in basic carpentry. Physical ability to perform activities related to solar installation work, including but not limited to: standing for long periods (sometimes on a sloped surface), bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, twisting, working above the shoulders, working with manual and electric hand tools, repetitive motions, lifting and carrying up to 50lbs, working in direct sunlight, working with trip hazards, and working at heights. Flexibility to work evening and weekends to meet program operations and needs. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and data entry. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. I also hold a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Loyola University Chicago and a Master of Science in Nonprofit Management from Spertus Institute. What about your work inspires you? I strongly believe that Association House continues in the settlement house tradition of working toward a healthier community. I am proud and inspired to work with a dedicated team, who work to empower and elevate residents in areas of education, mental health, and employment. What's a fun fact about yourself? I am a life-long learner. During the pandemic, I ran with my passion for skin care and became a licensed esthetician. After her time in Iowa came to a close, she came to Chicago where she completed her Master of Business Administration at DePaul University in the Charles H. Kellstadt Graduate School. She then worked her way up the ladder at BMO Harris Bank and now resides as the Director of Business Transformation. Why I Serve? Kathleen is hoping to be able to continue to support the mission of the Association House alongside the staff and fellow broad members; perhaps bringing in a different perspective and new ideas around how to grow the Association House both deep and wide with expanded outreach in the community. ​ ​
